Is HIV Antibody Test Done 3 Months Post Exposure Conclusive?
Question: Hello Doctor,
i had an unsafe sex with my girlfriend. after that i am suffering from mouth ulcer , fever, cough ,Fatigue.
i am scared of HIV and i went to diagnostic center and i ask him to test for HIV. He have done Tri dot Antibody test(HIV 1 & 2). this test was taken after 3+ months 10 after unprotected sex.. so the test went Non reactive..
So can i feel i am HIV free or else do i need to take the test again ..

I an Dr. kakkar (MD, Skin and VD)have gone through your query and I have understood your concern
At 3 months or more after a sexual contact, antibody based screening by TRI DOT is conclusive and there is no need to repeat the test. A negative test rules out Hiv conclusively.
Your symptoms could be due to an unrelated cause e.g a viral infection Or URTI (Upper respiratory tract infection) and I suggest symptomatic treatment for the same i.e paracetamol for fever and cetrizine for cold and cough.

As i said earlier i just had the test from diagnostic center. i have not taken any suggestion from Doctor.
I dont have any rashes or scars on my testis,I am suffering from mouth ulcer , tiredness , headache so please suggest me that should i need to consult STD Specialist or normal Physician.
