Is HIV Test Done 3 Months After Exposure Conclusive?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

I'm again curious about my results. 2 days back I got tested again for hiv 1 n hiv 2 (rapid) for the sexual encounter I had on 9th August with a female masseuse. It was non-reactive.
The tests at 1st month 2nd month mark were non-reactive through rapid testing. 3rd month hiv Elisa test (as u referred to me) came out negative.
The light red/pink dots are not visible on the genital head.
But the problem I'm facing is the light itchy dry skin that gets pink/red as soon as I accidentally scratch it lightly because it itches at times.. Exactly on the facial areas seen on seborrheic dermatitis.

My face looks light pink on those areas around nose, cheeks and in between eyebrows. Plus these pink marks are increasing after every few days. I can't share my face pic. Looks XXXXXXX the rash is steadily coming back.

But is it possible that I'm uninfected because I had a reddish rash of seborrheic dermatitis exactly 5 days after the sexual Intercourse.

I just want to be safe n I'll keep getting tested till it's required.

I hope you would read the previous post of mine for exact details of my encounter results related to the tests you referred me to as there's still a problem of attachments not getting uploaded.

Help me out doctor. Take care. Will wait for your reply.

Brief Answer:
Non HIV related.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

The HIV tests have been negative by rapid and Elisa tests and you took the test at 3 months which is considered conclusive. The lesion is unrelated to the HIV. It could be fungal infection, dermatitis, etc. I would suggest you to apply triple action cream on the area for thrice daily for 2-3 weeks. Maintain general body hygiene. No need to get HIV test again. Only one follow up test advised at 6 months. You can visit a dermatologist to get evaluation done to find the cause.

Take care
