Is HIV Test Done After Four Months Conclusive?

Posted on Fri, 17 Jul 2015
Question: I made the biggest mistake of my life on jam 28. 2015. I let a stripper have unprotected sex with me for no longer than 20 seconds then I made her stop. I had a full std panel done at 2 weeks after. Everything came out negative for hiv, siphilis etc. I had a sore throaght for a while that's all.I took a oraquick at home test at 8 and 10 weeks negative.. I also took one about two weeks ago 4 months after and also negative. I have a family a wife and young son I don't want to infect them. I read I'm am concludive negative. Your thoughts please I'm freaking out. Everything from a pimple to a cough I think is hiv. I live in XXXXXXX kentucky. I don't believe I would have 4 false negative tests do you? Am I 100% ok?

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV conclusively. Repeat STD panel

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

STD panel 2 weeks after the high risk contact is not very much conclusive for syphilis and hepatitis. It is better to repeat the same once again to get a nonreactive results.
Regarding HIV, the tests done after 8 weeks 10 weeks and 4 months after the contact is only reliable and valuable. First test was within the window period and the negative test was not so valuable. Anyhow it is confirmed that you are free from HIV. So nothing to worry about HIV. rule out Syphilis and hepatitis and you can resume your sex life with your wife. There is no possibility of further infection. Here afterwards forget not to have a safe sex always when you are away from your wife.

Brief Answer:
You are HIV free conclusively and it is confirmatory.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
All the HIV tests including oraquick are highly specific and highly reliable up to 97-98%. When more than two tests were non reactive after the widow period then the results are reliable up to 100%. There could not be a false negative results on repeated tests. So you are assured that you are HIV free.

Brief Answer:
Oraqick and oral swab test are different

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.
Oraquick is different (done for HIV) whereas oral swab is different and it would be useful to rule out Gonorrhea and Chlamydia and other non specific bacterial infection following an oral sex.
We can not expect a 100%reliable results with throat swab test.
