Is HIV Test Done After One Year Conclusive?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Jul 2015
Question: I have sexual exposure with CSW in the month of 19th XXXXXXX 2014. I did HIV antibody test on 27th April 2014, 27th September 2014, 28th December 2014 and 4th January 2015.

All negative. Can I consider it final? Or I need to do further HIV test?

Brief Answer:
No further testing is required. Don't worry at all.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You had sexual exposure on 19th XXXXXXX 2014. You did antibody test 4 times and all are negative. Last test was done around one year after exposure. So no need to worry at all. No any further testing is required.

Routine window period is 3 to 6 months. Your antibody test after 1 year is negative. So now be relaxed. Don't go for further testing. You don't have HIV.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions then feel free to ask me. i will be happy to answer.

Thanks Doctor.
It is a relief. I have two more questions

1. I did these tests from private pathological labs in XXXXXXX Are these reliable?
2. Are antibody tests reliable enough? I think this is the only screening test for hiv.

The Internet is making me crazy. There are stories of late seroconversion.

Brief Answer:
Yes these tests are reliable.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I can understand your concern.
1. Testing from private lab is reliable. Don't worry.
2. Antibody tests are reliable after 6 months. So don't worry. It is screening test so it has high sensitivity. Chances of false negative are very rare. SO don't worry about that. Just be relaxed. Stories of late sero conversion are very rare and not applicable in routine practice.

Just be relaxed. No further testing is required.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

I also had one more exposure with protected vaginally sex ( I checked the condom after 1 day and it was ok) with deep throat kissing. The date was on 23rd May 2014. Can HIV spread through deep throat tongue kissing?

Answered by Dr. Hardik Sanghvi (12 hours later)
Brief Answer:
No chance of hiv spread. No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
No chance of hiv spreading with protected vaginal sex or throat kissing. Your condom is intact without any tear or rupture so don't worry about that. Just be relaxed.

Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic.
Wish you a very good health.
