Question: Hi, I am a 55 yo male that has just been prescribed Lexapro 10 mg for PTSD. My question: My resting heart rate is low to mid 40s (I work out 6 days a week). Should I be concerned about taking Lexapro? If so, what sould I look for?

Brief Answer:
I think yes

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX,
Thanks for using healthacaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Resting heart rate 40? If you mean it is just 40 there is high possibility that your QT interval is prolonged which will again increase if lexapro is used.

In case it becomes necessary there is need to take ECG before hand and repeat ECG at the end of one month or earlier if there are symptoms such as palpitations, fainting etc.

To conclude there is definite need to take ECG before starting Lexapro and keep monitoring it.

I hope this helps you.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
