Question: I have been having major bathroom problems. I haven't had bowel movement in over two weeks let rephrase that I have only had two hard knots. I went to the ER cause I'm miserable and they came back and said I had a uti. Put me on rocephine and sent me home. Got a call yesterday saying my culture was back and not to take rocephine because it won't help I need microbid. What is microbid use to treat and does that mean I have sever issues

Brief Answer:
Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) antibiotic to treat UTI

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

Having UTI means you have urinary tract infection. Culture is done to determine the right antibiotic to use.

Rocephin was prescribed to treat UTI temporary until you get the result of culture testing.
If he asked to use macrobid, it means that this is the most sensitive antibiotic to treat your UTI.

Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) is an antibiotic to treat UTI. So, nothing severe is happening, just continue with what your doctor prescribed.

Wish fast recovery.
