Is Mircette A Suitable And Advisable Medication For Menopause While Experiencing Anxiety, Insomnia, Fatigue And Hot Flashes?

Question: I’m 49 years old and haven’t had a period since Dec 1. I am experiencing debilitating anxiety, insomnia, hot flashes, brain fog, extreme fatigue. I haven’t taken birth control in years. The doctor prescribed Premarin, but I don’t really want to take it. My friend mentioned she takes Mircette for menopause. Do you recommend this option?

Mircette contains estrogen and progesterone, while Premarin is estrogen alone. Your symptoms are on account of estrogen depletion, so taking Premarin makes more sense.

Thank you for the reply. I realized after I had submitted question that it is Prempro not Premarin. What is the difference? Would you still recommend the Prempro? Thank you.

Prempro and Mircette both have estrogen and progesterone. Only the Prempro has conjugated estrogen, which is more recommended for postmenopausal women.
