Question : I am having 6 month old baby. Is it safe to give normet syrup

                                    Brief Answer:
Safe but not needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If given in proper dose normet syrup is safe to be given in a baby of 6 months. But I am keen to learn the reason for the same. Let me assure you that for a baby of this age it is normal to pass stool even 10 times a day and unless there is blood in stool treatment with antibiotics is not indicated. I would therefore not insist you give normal syrup. The infection is self-limiting and irrespective of treatment it should resolve in a week or less. The mainstay of treatment is ORS and breast milk to ensure proper hydration.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

The reason for loose motions may be due to introduction of cereloc food to the baby. Pl suggest for prevention of loose motions.
