Question : Can I take nortriptyline HCL , which I have used for 10 or more years for neuropathy in my feet, with Flecaniade acetate which I started taking about 3 to 4 years for a missed heartbeat, without a drug interaction? I am an 83 yr. old female in otherwise good health.
Brief Answer:
no, it's not recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
It is not recommended to take nortriptiline and Flecainide together since this may lead to some serious heart arrhythmias. True, this is very rare side effect, but you should not take that risk.
You have few other options. Either you can replace Nortryptiline with some other antidepressants or else, you may switch the Flecainide, but this is also not advisable.
Lyrica is the best solution for this kind of pain, but it can be switched with Gabapentin or Cymbalta for example.
Please discuss these with your doctor and proceed accordingly.
Wish you a good health.
