Is PSA Level Of 5 Normal?

enlarged Prostate with PSA of 5 needs to be evaluated by Urologist
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on your statement that you have enlarged prostate with PSA of 5 .
I shall be happy if you can post me more details to help me in making precise comments
1) Do you have obstructive voiding symptoms like frequency for urination ,nocturia ,poor urine flow etc ?
2) Are you diabetic ?
3) Have you done Ultrasound Scanning of the Abdomen and what is the size of Prostate and Post Void Residual urine volume ?
The management of Enlarged prostate is governed by the severity of symptoms and its effect of quality of life of the patient .
I would suggest you to Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis.
The marginally raised PSA of 5 (Normal value being 4)can be due to enlarged prostate.
Start taking antibiotic like Ciprofloxacin and Nitrofurantoin twice daily along with combination of Tomsulosin and Dutasteride once daily .
Repeat your PSA after two weeks if it remains to be persistently raised your Urologist will take a call for need to do Prostate Biopsy to rule out cancer of prostate .
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
