Question : My brother's prostate was removed years ago but his PSA is suddenly 25. What might that mean?

i read your question and i understand your concern . Despite prostatectomy PSA levels may be high due to many other reasons, even advancing age can cause it. A UTI can cause it. Its not the prostate that causes high prostate. It can be degenerative bones that can cause high PSA antigen, after all its a protein. if the prostate was removed due to some cancer, i am afraid that could mean a recurrence or relapse of secondary growth of metastasis. Let your doctors sort it out and do a complete clinical correlation. An amount of just 26 PSA at age of 93 is almost normal and nothing to worry about.
