Is Pantoprazole The Same As Omeprazole?

pantoprazole and omeprazole are similar
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
It sounds like you are having some pain in your esophagus from reflux after you eat. Pantoprazole and omeprazole are both proton pump inhibitors and decrease stomach acid. Taking either of them is a good treatment for reflux symptoms. They need to be taken 30 minutes before a meal to be most effective. Some vitamins, hot liquids, tobacco, alcohol and acidic foods like tomatoes and citrus fruits can make reflux worse so you should avoid them as well. I am not sure that your other pains are related to the reflux. Left shoulder pain can be related to heart disease so you need to talk to your doctor about possibly getting a stress test if you have other risk factors for heart disease like family history, smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure.
Breast and colon pain can be from many causes so make sure to tell your doctor about them when you see him/her on Wednesday.
Wishing you the best,
Dr. Robinson
