Question : I was taking Lexapro for depression, but it did not help. My daughter also used it to no avail and switched to Pristiq. Are they fairly similar or is the Pristiq a lot stronger. I do not want anything that will make me groggy in the daytime, as I live a very active life. I am 79 years of age. Thank you for your help.

Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Pristiq is helpful in moderate to severe depression.
It may be better than Lexapro. There may be initially dose related side effects.
Sedation may be there initially and abates later on.
The effect may take 3-4 weeks to come.
