Is STD Test Conclusive 3 Months Post Exposure?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Dec 2015
Question: I went July 2015 for an STD panel. All negative.
I went October 2015 for an Herpes panel. Negative
I went to a urologist in October when the scars were just 1. now 4. The urologist stated it may be fungal but didn't think so. he wrote a prescription for a fungal infection cream but said not to use unless it worsens.
I went to a dermatologist in October - Stated not to worry.
I went November 2015 for the follow up HIV test (3 month follow up) Negative.

It has been 68 days since I have had any sexual contact. All sexual contact for 6+month has been protected. Yet these shiny thin scars are appearing on my penis. They are irritated and only visible when you stretch the skin. They are mildly irritating like a paper cut. I just want good penis health and to see what these new scars are and what to do.

Not sure if I should use the cream.

Brief Answer:
Yes the anti fungal cream might help.

Detailed Answer:
Good day and thank you for being with healthcare magic!

It is really hard to see on the pictures you sent the lesions on your penis. Are you applying anything to your penis? strong soaps?

In general it is advisable to use mild soaps on the penis to prevent irritation and excessive dryness on the area. This would cause more problems and more secondary lesions to appear. Another would be latex allergy. There are a lot of patients who are allergic to a condom and would end up having lesions /reactions from the rubber they used. Changing brands may help eliminate the problem.

If you think that the lesions have not yet resolved then I would do trial of the anti fungal cream for 2 weeks to determine if it works.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://www.HealthcareMagic.com/doctors/dr-manuel-c-see-iv/66014 I would gladly help you. Best wishes.

Right now i have been applying lotion. I only use dial antibacterial soap.
I attached two additional pictures but again may be hard to see as the cuts are small and almost flesh colored. One picture has a red outline of the area in question. It is a slightly darker indent (cut) The cuts feel smooth but when they are touched it gives a burning sensation. On rare occasion (less than 5% of the time it itches).

If the anti-fungal cream doesn't work would it be best to go to a dr again? What else could it be?/ what other tips can you give?
I chose this online method because it is a little less evasive and i would prefer not to go to a doctor.

Brief Answer:
Mild baby soap and moisturizer.

Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with HealthCare Magic!

Thank you very much for uploading more pictures. From the looks of it, The skin looks like it is suffering from excessive dryness typical with irritated skin. I would suggest stop the anti bacterial soap and use a baby soap or soap for sensitive skin for the area. Anti bacterial soaps are often strong and typically would cause dryness and irritation on the area. Apply moisturizer (mild unscented) after shower to help regain the normal skin. Refrain from and sexual activity which includes masturbation for 2 weeks. Condoms is also restricted until the issues resolves.

Yes if the symptoms persists, it is always better to go see your doctor again for follow-up.

The last question would be do you recommend that I still use the fungal cream during the 2 week refrain from sexual activity?

I don't think that it's condom irritation as it has been over 2 months since my last sexual contact.

thanks for all your help. great job.

Brief Answer:
I do not recommend putting the anti fungal cream.

Detailed Answer:
I am glad that I am able to help you. In my opinion basing from the pictures you have sent i wouldn't recommend applying fungal cream on the area. I don't think it is a fungal infection and the cream might cause more irritation on an already irritated skin. Mild soap and water and a very mild lotion would help you get your penile skin to be healthy again. If the symptoms persists i would go back to your Urologist or Dermatologist for follow-up. Thank you very much for your patronage.

Yours,

Dr Manuel See IV
