Brief Answer:
it is an atypical antipsychotic drug .

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on XXXXXXX

Well looking into your problem I would tell you that Quetiapine is atypical antipsychotic drug . quetiapine is a potent serotonin 5-HT2a-receptor antagonist and a moderate dopamineD2-receptor antagonist . It is not a narcotic.

The misuse and abuse potential of the drug is low and only case reports are there . The pharmacological theories remain unsupported and there are no available animal or human studies to clarify the potential risk for its abuse . Thus it needs monitoring for addiction in high risk cases like people having history of polysubstance abuse.

Take care.
