Is Telmisartan Effective In Lowering High Blood Pressure?

Question: I have been taking Exforge for High Blood Pressure, but my doctors says the results are ok as long as it
doesn't get to 160 and beyond. I have heard that teimisartan can lower my blood pressure more. What is
your advice. YYYY@YYYY Thank you for any help you can give me.

Brief Answer:
exforge is more potent
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
exforge is not a single drug like telmisartan. It contains amlodipine and valsartan. Valsartan is a drug that belongs to the same class as telmisartan and has similar potency. The second ingredient (amlodipine) makes exforge more potent than telmisartan. A more potent drug would be exforge HCT which also contains hydrochlorothiazide (a diuretic). By the way the target level for the systolic blood pressure is lower than 140mmHg. The ideal systolic blood pressure is around 130mmHg.
I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
