Is Triamcinolone Acetonide Appropriate Medication For Scarring From Hyacinth Bean Plant?
Question: My 6 yr old son was running and rubbed against a hyacinth bean plant and received a scratch across his entire forehead two days ago. I have been putting triamcinolone acetonide cream 2x a day on it. It appears to get better, but i am worrying about scarring.
Brief Answer:
Doesn't seem to cause scarring, continue triamcinolone acetonide cream
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints as well as reviewed the attached photographs.
The scratch doesn't seem to be deep enough to cause scarring.
I would recommend you to continue applying triamcinolone acetonide cream on the affected area for another 8-10 days.
This will further minimise the chance of scar formation.

I recieved information from Dr Asmeet and have a follow up question. After 8 days, I quit using the triamcinolone acetonide cream on my 6 year old sons forehead because the scratch from the hyacinth bean plant. It appears the healed skin is much lighter than his normal skin(it hard to see the lighter skin in the picture). Will this get better? Is there a product I can apply to help darken the skin?
Thanks, XXXXXXX Walter

Brief Answer:
Light skin will get better with time, apply tacrolimus ointment
Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photograph though can't make out the lighter skin colour.
But it will definitely get better with time.
You can apply tacrolimus 0.1 percent ointment on the lighter skin twice daily. This will help in darkening it.
It is a prescription drug and you need to see the doctor in person to get it.

This maybe better pictures to see the white/lighter line of the skin. Do you still recommend the tacrolimus 0.1 ointment? Or will it get better on its own? Thanks
Brief Answer:
I think this white line will go on its own in few weeks
Detailed Answer:
I can appreciate the white line in these pictures and I think it will go on its own in few weeks.
You can wait for it to resolve.
No need of Tacrolimus for now.
