Question : My Mom age 73 is on plavix blood thinners. She fell this afternoon while visiting me from out of town and hit her head and hurt her arm. Is it okay of she take Tylenol for the pain? I realize she cannot take aspirin or ibprofen.

Hello,

I checked in the Lexicomp drug database for any interactions between Plavix and Tylenol (acetaminophen) and there were no adverse interactions. So it is safe for her to take acetaminophen.

If she hit her head hard and especially if she lost consciousness, then she should go into the ER though to be evaluated for that. Otherwise, for more minor pain, Tylenol would be ok.
