Question : Is a uti contagious from man to woman? my girlfriend went to the doc and has a uti. Could I have given it to her or her to me? She had fever and back pain and I have no symptoms.

Your girlfriend was recently diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. This condition is not transmitted from person to person but sex can cause a UTI. Just the physical act of intercourse can introduce bacteria into the bladder. Many women get urinary tract infection during their honeymoon for this very reason. The best preventive is for your girlfriend to urinate after engaging in sex. If she gets frequent UTIs she may need to be started on antibiotics daily or just after having sex.
