My child is 2 years old.
Yesterday when she said she is getting pain at the left hand finger we observed that her thumb is in a bent position and not streching back.
I saw in the internet it is Trigger thumb.
Can you tell me if this is a serious problem? and what causes this? not sure from when she has this problem. Do we need to go for surgery to cure this? what is the best approach to cure?
And what is the cost of the surgery in XXXXXXX for this?
Thanks, XXXXXXX
Surgical intervention likely to be required

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. The condition you have described, is known as trigger thumb. It is often noted in children. In such cases trigger thumb is not caused by an injury or other medical issues. The condition occurs when the tendons that move the finger and thumb enlarge and do not slide smoothly through the tendon sheath (or tunnel) when the finger is moved. However, a clinical evaluation is needed in order to determine whether surgical intervention is needed to correct trigger thumb. In this simple day-care procedure, your child’s surgeon will release the tendon from the tendon sheath where it is catching, allowing the tendon to glide more smoothly.
The cost of surgery will vary significantly with the nature of institution you choose to get the treatment from. It can be free in government hospital and can go upto a lakh in certain upscale institutes. It would be best to discuss with the surgeon you choose for the treatment.
Let me know if I could help further.
