Question : i had a mammogram last year, it should a small globule in the right breast. the doctors did an ultrasound and confirmed a small nodule or fatty cyst and wanted to follow up with a mammo and ultrasound in 6 months. the 6 month ultrasound showed no change. I just had my yearly check and that problem seems to have diminished however right by that area is now another area of question. I am just wondering if i should have a biopsy to see what is going on. My older sister has had breast cancer

Detailed Answer:
hi and welcome.
Usually, for such changes no biopsy is recommended, just 6 months period ultrasound follow up. However, consider that you have positive family predisposition and you are in age when carcinoma may occur,I suggest to do MRI scan and if lesion is large enough or there are featuresof malignanciy then biopsy should be done. Wish you good health.Regards
