Question: My husband has been resting in bed. He just took his BP and it read 152/93 with pulse of 62. He does have high BP and diabetes but controlled through diet. No chest pains and he slept well. Do I need to take him to an urgent care?

Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As far as your husband doesn't complain of any symptoms or demonstrate potential cardiovascular signs, and furthermore his BP values do not show any trend toward higher values, there is no need to ask for urgent medical assistance (ER service).

What is important in his case would be optimization of his ongoing anti-hypertensive therapy.

If blood pressure values keep persisting on high values, then a possible up-titration of Quinapril would be required. Daily dosage of Quinapril may be increased to 20 - 80 mg per day.

You just need to frequently check his BP values for a couple of days (several times daily) and consult them with his attending doctor for an appropriate professional opinion.

You may upload them here for a second medical opinion.

Hope to have been helpful to you!
