Brief Answer:
Cracking joints cause.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Sometimes cracking noise is normal due to gas carbon dioxide cavitation bubbles suddenly collapsing inside joints when you pop finger and doesn't mean you have problems.
Sometimes crackling and pain may be a sign of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis etc.
You have to do some other examinations like total blood count, Rx of joints ( simple x-ray examination) , or rheumatoid factor or anti ANA to find the cause of it.

Yes, I feel like it's become an issue now. My joints have been crackling for months now almost a few years actually and I never had it checked out. But I would like to know what examination you'd recommend I do because I don't think this symptom will go away on its own without treatment done. It used to only be my left thumb now it's my right thumb as well.

And since I work full-time with no health insurance I'm worried of what the cost will be to get examined since the last time I was at the hospital I now got a debt collection from them of $300+. Is it possible to examine this at a clinic instead of an urgent care?

Brief Answer:
Examinations that need to be done.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I think you should not go to urgent care since your situation is not an emergency.
You should do
1. Complete blood count including ERS and CRP.
2.x-ray of the joints of fingers affected
3.rheumatoid factor
4. ANA antibody.
You can do them at any clinic you want. Prices vary from clinic to clinic. Especially last two may be more expensive.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
