Brief Answer:
Cause for concern. Needs further work up.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

A eosinophil count so high is definitely alarming and cause of concern. It indicates there is a severe allergic reaction ongoing in your body. It could be respiratory causes like COPD and asthma, it could be due to worm infestation in bowels or could be due to infections like filariasis. Very unlikely yet possible, it could be due to a cancerous conversion of a granulocyte cell lineage (of blood production). It needs a proper work up. Treatment would depend upon the underlying cause.

Since there is abdominal pain associated, I would insist on deworming as the first measure. Albendazole 400 mg has to be taken single dose today and it has to be repeated after a fortnight. Evaluate the eosinophil count thereafter and proceed accordingly.

Today I am admitted in hospital. Please confirm whether this is curable permanently upon medication.

Brief Answer:
It is possible to resolve the condition with medication.

Detailed Answer:
Filariasis requires prolonged intervention and can be kept in control. Sometimes it can be eliminated completely. Getting rid of worms completely is also possible. Even if it is cancer, if detected early it can be cured completely.

I would insist you not to panic and to proceed with the treatment. Treatment would provide resolution.
