Brief Answer:
Has it ever been measured before and if yes, what was the value?

Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.

A glomerular filtration rate of 55 is not too bad unless it represents a deep drop from a higher value. Most values more than 60 are considered normal and thus you are really not far off from the normal cut off value. However, are there any other reasons why you may be concerned about your kidney function such as swollen legs and weight gain?

I hope this helps and look forward hearing from you. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

no swollen legs, some weight gain, but it goes up and down. MY DR said I drink to much fluids. blood has low sodium. I have no infections , last urine test showed normal in all areas. I do get urgent urination in normal amounts mostly in the evening
Some frequent urination at night.. but then again I do drink alot in the Daytime.and at night I feel good . Had Prostate cancer ,but DR says it is gone. PSA .01 Had scope test in bladder and all was normal. urine is usually clear in color no pain or burning.THis is the first time my GFR has been low ever!! Creatine is higher then usual. but with in range

Brief Answer:
Control only at a later date!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this precision.

There is actually nothing to worry about at this time. I will rather suggest that you stay calm and only monitor this value at a later date. This might be wrong as well.

Keep me updated with your progress.
