Brief Answer:
Recommended HIV 2 antibodies test after 6 months for conclusive result

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The window period of HIV infection has been found to be 6 months in 99.99 percent of infections.

2. The 4th generation duo antigen antibody test is conclusive for HIV 1 infection after one month because it tests for p24 antigen which is always positive in HIV 1 infection after a month.

3. In the rare possibility of HIV 2 infection, the HIV antibody test against HIV 2 infection is recommended to be done after 6 months to confirm that a person is safe.

4. Oral thrush is a fungal condition that is found in people who have a weak immunity. This can include those who are elderly, have some type of chronic infection, those who are having an abnormality of the immune system (both infectious like HIV and non infectious causes). Therefore it is wrong to believe that oral thrush occurs only in HIV population. It can occur in people who do not maintain good nutrition and the malnourished.

5. Augmentin 625 is a strong antibiotic for treating bacterial infections and I think your doctor suspects that you have a bacterial infection which is causing the sore throat. Please take it for the recommended duration.

In conclusion, the antibody test (for HIV1 and HIV2) done in August almost confirms that you are safe. Keeping in mind the fact that 4th generation HIV duo test does not entirely rule out HIV 2 infection and the last antibody test was done in August 2015 (4 months after exposure) therefore I suggest that you do a antibody test against HIV 2 (usually test kits test for HIV 1 and 2 antibodies) right now since 6 months are over following exposure. This will be completely conclusive result.

I am almost sure that your test result will be negative and you can continue with normal life.

Hope this query is answered.
Please write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
You are completely safe and please lead a normal life

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. If your results for HIV 1 and 2 antibodies test are negative then you are safe and it is conclusive.

2. Leukocytes in the range of 2 to 5 are acceptable in urine. This is not a problem.

3. Your STD screening test is also normal.

Please continue with your normal life and be careful next time you have sex with any partner.

Hope this query is answered.

Brief Answer:
You are not having seroconversion

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. I have seen your results and they are negative for HIV, blood and urine test is normal.

2. The sore throat you are having is probably from flu and you will recover probably in a week. Augmentin will prevent secondary bacterial infection and you should continue taking it for the time recommended by your doctor.

3. It is more than 6 months and you are not having seroconversion.

4. You can have sex with a condom now but please do not forget to take precautions.

5. There is no single test to rule out all STDs. Specific tests are available for each disease.

Hope this query is answered.
