Is A Nodule Located In The Left Lower Lobe A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Aug 2017
Question: I had an X-ray about 3 years ago and a small module was found on my left lung lower lobe. A few months later he pulmonary specialist checked it out and found no change. Unfortunately, I did not see the doc for 2 years. Last year I had a chest X-ray and doc said it was fine. This week I notice some soreness on my left side. Have appointment scheduled for 8/14. Is it likely the X-ray last year missed the growth. I mean it would be rather large if what I'm feeling is that. Anyway, can a large large, left lung, lower lobe, mass be benign?

Brief Answer:
do a chest CT

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in HCM

I read carefully your history and i can understand your concern.

First i should emphasised that for measuring the parameters of a nodus usually we use a chest CT not an x Ray.

However when one opacity is more than 2 cm is called a mass .It might be from a benign mass to a malign one.Usually we are afraid of a malign mass..

In your case if you were my patient the first examination i would recommend is a chest x Ray with contrast and after having the result i should decide for the next step.

Its been three years now and it is hard to believe that it is a malignant mass without signs and symptoms.

Please discuss with your doctor for the above.
When you have the results you can attach me them and i can help you again

Take care and feel free to ask me again
