Brief Answer:
Yes, seizures and Epilepsy may happen after brain injury.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

About 20% of people sustaining a brain injury may experience seizures.

If the seizures repeat this is Epilepsy and long term treatment with antiepileptic drugs is necessary.

Topamax is okay if it controls correctly the seizures.

So, yes, this condition is real, changes in type of the seizures are mainly related to the brain area damaged and subsequently responsible for seizures activity.

My advice is to follow up with your Neurologist and to follow strictly recommendations about the lifestyle and medication in order to be seizure free.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.
