Question : There is a small lump at the back of my head from few months now. It is usually painless but if I press it hard I feel little pain. whom should I consult for it? Any tests which are recommended?

Hi,

I assume the lump is over the skull (head) and not neck as you described. If it is indeed on the head, I would suggest you to consult a general surgeon. If you don't find one close by, you may also consult and discuss with your family physician.

I don't think a small lump that is hardly causing any trouble / pain will need tests immediately. But yes a good clinical examination is important. Your doctor will assess the size, consistency, borders, plane of the lump and other parameters. If necessary an ultrasound scan will then be ordered. Treatment if any will be planned based on results of examination +/- test findings.
