Abortion can dangerous if you are taking blood thinners, inform your doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hi Jscheibly1,
Thanks for writing in.
I have read through your query in detail.
As you have had a stroke due to blood clot in the carotid, it is possible that you are on medications which includes blood thinners.
Having abortion when you are on blood thinners carries a risk of increased bleeding tendency. Excessive bleeding can be dangerous however this can be prevented and all you need to do is inform your gynecologist about it and they will take additional measures to prevent undesired blood loss.
It is advised that should you go for an abortion then please have a detailed discussion with your gynecologist and keep them informed of any medications and blood thinners that you are taking for the stroke.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
