Question: if you have alcoholic neuropathy that has stopped you be XXXXXXX if I have stopped drinking can I recover and eventually stand up and walk again. i am on vitamins in hospital by a drip and i am never drinking alcohol again. the numbness does seem to be getting better but i cant stand legs just weak and collapse

Unfortunately alcoholic neuropathy is irreversible. Alcohol is a neurotoxin and the damage that has been done to your nerves is permanent. There are medication that may help ease the pain, including SNRI antidepressants such as venlafaxine, and the anticonvulsant gabapentin. These can both be effective treatments.
