Question : Iam a 53 year old women ,and my periods are still regular ,but for some reason I got this months period 10 days early,is this maybe menopause or something I should be concerned about

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Yes, menstrual irregularities are most common around this age.
And the most likely reason is peri - menopause.
This diagnosis should be confirmed however.
You should be consulting a Specialist OB - GYN to have the following workup -
1. Internal exam - per vaginum and per speculum.
2. Pelvic transvaginal ultrasound scan.
3. Hormonal levels - FSH, LH, TSh, Prolactin.
4. Pap smear.
This will reveal if these are simple peri menopausal changes or something more significant - fibroid, cyst, cervical lesion, polyp etc.
