Do you have abdominal pain, yellowish eyes/urine, nausea/vomiting, fever, itching, decreased appetite /weight?

So for further assessment, I would suggest you consult with a gastroenterologist for a detailed clinical examination.

S/he may procure complete hemogram, liver function test, viral marker, ultrasound/computed tomography abdomen as per evaluation to rule out any other possibilities for chronic liver disease/alcoholic liver disease(if having such relevant history)

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. Till then take a soft balanced diet. Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid alcohol if you have it.

Thank you so much for the start of your answer. I have no alcohol history, dont drink at all. No jaundice, nausea or vomiting. No decreased appetite or weight loss, no abdominal pain. I do take between 1200-1800 milligrams of advil daily due to total hip replacement two years ago, type 2 diabetic controlled with A1C of 6. Other than that I am completely healthy, 55 years old. I am over weight but on a exercise program of 30 minutes of treadmill daily and maintaining a healthy diet. Non smoker and no drug use. SGPT has never been high. Blood work every three months. So this increase is acute. SGPT was 66 2 weeks ago and repeated this week and went to 77. All other blood tests CBC and CMP was normal. Cholesterol all within normal limits. Your thoughts.

Thank you for your reply.

As per your history, I think it may be due to tablet advil as pain medications may cause increase in SGPT level. Usually obesity doesn't show such sharp increase.

So I would suggest you to discuss this with your surgeon.

Alternatively you can apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally. Heating pads may help.
