Most angiography procedures are carried out using local anaesthesia to numb the area of skin where the catheter is going to be inserted. Only light sedation is required.Mild sedative such as diazepam is given to relax the patient and relieve anxiety.
Depending on the complexity of the investigation, angiography procedure can take 20 to 90 minutes.
General anaesthesia is required in Pediatric(child) cases only.
