Is Angioplasty Advisable Without Severe Artery Blockage?

default
Posted on Tue, 31 Jan 2017
Question: A significant other had. A heart workup last week. This was just a general part of his visit to the cardiologist. Nothing expected. Today the dr wants a angioplasty without significant evidence of black age. Is there a significant risk to the test? Is it really necessary. YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Please attach all test reports done by your cardiologist!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Firstly thanks for choosing health care magic for your query!
I am sorry but your question is a bit unclear, Heart work up may include a number of tests,However advice for angiography can be given only when there is a gross change suggesting cardiac ischemia due to coronary artery blockage in any test like TMT or 2Decho.

Kindly specify the tests done by your cardiologist,if possible upload the detailed reports and graphs of treadmill test or 2d echo ,whichever has been done by your cardiologist. If ECG was done upload a picture of ecg also.

Now as per your question ,yes angiography is a invasive test, and can even lead to mortality in 1% of the cases.Necessity of doing a angiogram depends on the reports of baseline tests like 2d echo and Treadmill test,Even if they are suggestive of cardiac ischemia;Stress thallium is adviced -A thallium stress test is a nuclear imaging test that shows how well blood flows into the heart while you’re exercising or at rest. This test is also called a cardiac or nuclear stress test. Most people tolerate the test very well. Being non invasive safety is much more compared to angiogram .Sensitivity of stress thallium to rule out cardiac ischemia is almost 97%.

Advice
Attach all detailed reports and tests that have been done by your cardiologist.

Waiting!
Thanks,
