Brief Answer:
bloating not likely due to STD, not a normal symptom

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Bloating is not a symptom that is normally associated with sexually transmitted infections.

Most symptoms are related to the genital tract though some infections can cause symptoms and signs elsewhere, bloating is not one of these symptoms.

This means that this is not likely related to your partner. It is understandable to be concerned because of the risk of disease transmission and would be best, for screening before unprotected intercourse to protect against infection or using a barrier protection such as condoms.

Bloating is more likely due to one or more of the following: (1) constipation
(2)use of gas producing foods- cabbage, broccoli, carbonated drinks, turnips, beans, brussel sprouts, prunes, apples, peaches, cauliflower
(3)reflux- GERD is a common cause
(4)celiac disease
(5)lactose intolerance
(6)food intolerance-can be related to particular foods

I hope this helps ,feel free to ask any other questions

Ok thank you for the response.

I also had some discomfort which I'm not sure if its because I may be getting my period or because of something else.

I think I'm going to go get tested just to be safe.

How long does it take for std's to show up on a test?

Thanks!!

Brief Answer:
can vary from one infection to the other

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Depends on the type of std and the test used.

HIV- the newer tests, the 4 th generation tests can give a accurate result 11 days to a month. Doing this at a month would ensure an accurate result for sure.

For herpes- at least 2 weeks. Some persons can get a definite result at this time. If negative and want to make sure, it should be repeated at 3 months provided that there have been no instances of unprotected sex in the interval

Chlamydia and gonorrhea- there is no well documented interval for this test. It is thought to be accurate after a few days
