Question : Hi.. our baby boy is 62 days old.. only his mother breastmilk is his feed.. Q1:: earlier he used to have motions 10 to 15 times daily.. Recently it slowed down and he is going once daily.. but for last 72 hours, he is not having any motions.. his urine discharge is good and no issues there.. as I mentioned, only his mother's milk is his only food... Is it fine!!? Q2:: Also, some folks are suggesting to feed baby with "pinkoo GRIPE WATER" etc. is it okay to have few drops of it for baby?!! Q3:: Can you also suggest for a good/better baby soap?! Q4:: On baby's cheeks, the red rashes are coming n going every other day!? is it normal? does it anything to do with soap etc.

Brief Answer:
No serious concerns...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Congratulations on the new born!!!
I shall answer your questions specifically.

1. It is quite normal for new born babies and infants to pass stools 10 - 15 times a day. Similarly infants can stay without passing stools for days to week. As long as the child is feeding well, active, playing around, not irritable, I would not be overly worried. Continue breast feeding on demand and exclusively. You may consult the doctor if any of the above symptoms develop or if the child doesn't pass stool for more than a week.

2. It is better to stick with exclusive breast feed. No other feeds, not even any grape water to be fed to the child. I don't think there is any additional benefits of giving grape water. You may give a 2-3 drops of colicaid drops only if the child develops colic pains after talking with his pediatrician.

3. There are no specific soap recommended. You can continue using any baby soaps. I used sebamed soap for my children and my relatives new born.

4. Red rashes may or may not be normal. If the rashes persists, you can post pictures of the rashes here. Alternatively you may consult the doctor to understand its cause.

Hope I answered all your questions. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Regards
