Brief Answer:
may need to discontinue due to muscle pain

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Levofloxacin belongs to the family of drugs called fluoroquinolones. These medications can be associated with rupture of the achilles tendon in some person.

It can also cause muscle pain and joint pain in 0.1 to 1% of persons who use the medication.

Muscle pain is a possible side effect so it is possible that is it the cause of the pain that you are experiencing in your calves especially if you have no other cause for the pain (trauma) or no previous history of pain in the legs.

You should consider contacting your doctor about the side effects and need for an alternative antibiotic.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
