Question: Hi Dr
I took a dosage of azithromycin to cure my Chlamydia in the throat. I had oral sex with partner about 48 hours after, is the risk of my partner catching Chlamydia high?

Brief Answer:
STD/HIV transmission rates are low with oral sex.

Detailed Answer:
HI,
Welcome to HCM.
You had treatment with Azithromycin for chlamydia in throat:
1. What was the dosage you had taken?
2. Whether it was a proven Chlamydial infection?
3. What were the investigations done for you?
4. Other STDs including HIV ruled out?
5. What were your symptoms leading to the diagnosis of Chlamydia?

Regarding your oral sex:
1. Were you a receiving partner or giving partner?
I am asking you too many questions. But these details will help the discussion more useful to you.
Transmission of HIV/STD through oral sex is low when compared to anal and vaginal sex. So your partner would not necessarily get the infection.

1. Azithromycin 500mg For Chlamydia 1g Single Dose 2 Tablets and another injection in the bottom but I can't remember what it was.
2. Yes, I was tested positive for Chlamydia in the throat
3. I had throat swap
4. Other STDs including HIV negative
5. No symptoms

I performed oral sex on him, I am the giving partner, is Azithromycin effective and reduces the risk of infecting my partner after 48 hours from taking the drugs?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Your partner is unlikely to get Chlamydia from you

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
You had Chlamydial infection of throat. But you performed oral sex as a giving partner. Moreover you had been treated with a single dose of Azithromycin. So it is quite unlikely for your partner to get the Chlamydial infection from you.
Nothing to worry.
