Is Continued Intake Of 150mg Of Thyronorm Advisable?

Question: My wife is 31 years old and has been taking thyronorm 150 mg for the past 3 yrs.when detected 6 years back the TSH value was 65.she started off with 25 mg and when it didn't come under control doctor increased it to 150 mg.
Since 3yrs TSH is always less than 2.But still the doctor asked her to continue with the same dosage.
For the past one yr she have been having severe hair loss and itchy scalp.she has tried all natural remedies but nothing is working. Her menstrual cycle also not regular.
Is it because of thyroid medication.doeso she still need to take such high dosage?

Brief Answer:
continue same plan.
Detailed Answer:
Dear sir, hi and welcome to HCM!
when the thyroid profile is achieved at a normal level, that is the dose to be continued. so your treating doctor has done the right thing. now you must understand , thyroxine is the dose to replace the gland and not to repair the gland.
as of her menstrual irregularity, she needs to check her LH, FSH, Estradiol, Prolactin.
for her thinning and itchy scalp, she must see a dermatologist.
regards!
