Question: Are cystoscopies painful? My urologist wants to do one But a few yours ago i had a catheter put in at ER and it was the worst most painful experience ive had in my entire life and i am scared to death of having this procedure done

No,Cystoscopies are not painful when done under "General Anesthesia".

There are actually 2 options, either getting it done under regional/local anesthesia or through general anesthesia. So as you are apprehensive about pain you may ask for getting it done under general anesthesia .
