Dear
Thanks for contacting with your health concern and after reviewing your health query I'm of the following opinion:

1. Although BPH is disease of old age and going by your age (45) it might have started earlier resulting in urine complications so let me know about any recent
. testicular infection
. any abnormal hormonal changes
. genetic causes

2. Since BPH is precursor to prostate cancer (especially if diagnosed in early age) let me know whether you have been investigated for PSA (prostate specific antigen)??

Please revert back with your concerns

There was no testicular infection, PSA was within normal range. However, I have no idea about hormonal issues.

Dear
Thanks for reverting back

1. As you are taking steroids for your ulcerative colitis problem, the following are points worth mentioning:

i. An enlarged prostate is found among people who take prednisone, especially 60 + old and suffer from concomitant Osteoporosis. [not in your case]

ii.Prednisone does not have a side effect of increasing incontinence or weakening of bladder.

iii. In another study, there was a dose-response relationship between glucocorticoid dose [prednisone: 10 mg orally twice a day] and PSA decline

PS. So although corticosteroids are not involved in BPH [more with anabolic steroids], make sure to check with your attending Physician regarding other common ADR [adverse drug reaction] of the drug and also annual prostate examination is a must.

2.     Regarding hormonal issue consult with your attending Doctor or with a Urologist for sex Androgens, till then

3.
. Take: old brown rice, soup of moong dal [green gram], horse gram, garlic, bitter gourd, barley rice, mosambi/orange juice, sesame sweets

. Avoid: newly harvested rice, black gram, salt, leftover/spicy food, refined powder, jaggery, curd, cake, cheese, potato, wheat flour, semolina, gram flour, wheat, tomato, vinegar, lemon, tea, constipating food, and asafoetida.

4. Checking your IP address, as you are from XXXXXXX so let me know if you are interested in taking result oriented medicine [prepared by me] or if you want Prescription then one can go for tablet prosteez [charak] or tablet himplasia [Himalaya]
