Is Diet Soda Safe For Weight Loss?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Apr 2016
Question: My side insists that diet soda is inherently unhealthy, while I contend they don't make you lose weight but are better than sugar laden drinks, such as juice, and are not inherently unhealthy
Is there a decent medical study that addresses this ?

Brief Answer:
They contain carcinogens and renal toxins

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. Answer to your query lies in the fact that those drinks which are claimed to be diet suitable or having less calories are no doubt contain less sugar content but the chemicals like Saccharines which are used to give sweet flavors, but are not carbohydrates in nature or oher sweet proteins or inorganic sweeteners have been shown to be potential carcinogens and some having renal toxicities and other preservatives and artificial colours in very large amounts have also been shown to have similar tendencies so when combined together, the risks also increase many times. So all in all, low caloric advantages are outweighed by the gravity of the side effects which are though luckily less prevalent but still their virulence is much higher. So a balanced approach is to limit their intake to low levels and not as a routine. Hope this has answered your query. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
