Is Drinking Water From A Quag While Smoking Methamphetamine Harmful?

default
Posted on Thu, 28 Sep 2017
Question: I use speed sometimes and I'm out right now, so I decided to put 'be stupid' at the top of list of things to do. I looked at the water in the bottom of the quag and thought it might give me an energy boost so I drank it. . .it was about a shot glass worth. I am 63 and in good health except for my obvious mental impairment. I drank this about 45 mins to an hour ago. Am I in danger?

Brief Answer:
probably. But you'd know by now.

Detailed Answer:
Ok, I just got paged about the question. It is 30 minutes after 50 minutes. that is almost certainly past the peak effect of whatever was in there. Stimulants work by effects on the heart and blood vessels. The pulse is a good measure of the stress the heart is under if it is over 120 that might be a concern. over 150 certainly would need emergency evaluation. 100 or less certainly does not.

if one can check the blood pressure and if it has not gone up or if it is 140/90 or under there isn't much of a sign of stress.

Other signs would be chest or arm pain . Muscle fatigue in character. Or shortness of breath or change in thinking (but if you can type this out, probably not much of a mental problem). Or not being able to move a limb.

Most likely if someone didn't notice much of a change except worry by 90 minutes; there isn't much need for worry.

This time.

Frankly, I don't have any patients on methamphetamine excelpt adderall.

But everyone on cocaine has had a big problem if they are over 55 and use it even once. It seems crack is more dangerous but they should overlap in problems.

I've had 5 back surgeries and since the last one in Dec of 2012, I can't seem to get back to me. I am usually full of energy and passion for one thing or another, but no matter what I did nothing changed. Then a friend brought me over some speed and a pipe and I had the house cleaned, weeds removed from the front flower bed and dinner cooked in no time flat. And yes, that was more than I had asked for as I have really just wanted my life to be more like it was. I don't take any medication other than an advil when the weather changes for my back. When I was still seeing a doctor, I tried to talk to him about all of this and he said he understood and a few days later I received a letter from him dismissing me as his patient. I guess my follow-up question to you is, is there anything I can get that would boost my energy and be legal. I think the whole illegality of this bothers me more than anything else, I am way to old to get arrested at this stage of my life. And assuming that speed deplete's the body of some valuable nutrients what should I be doing to supplement my body so that I do the least harm possible?

Brief Answer:
Not as strong, no.

Detailed Answer:
Methamphetamine is a very strong stimulant. There is a big increase in the levels of stress hormones (bad) also a big rush in brain dopamine in the pleasure centers that nothing else quite does as much.
So, no, technically, I might not be able to get something that is 1 tenth as powerful.
But
1) you could try caffeine. It has problems. They are mild.
2) regular exercise you should do anyway. This will take an absolute minimum of 2 weeks of daily work outs to see a change.
3) OBviously there is amphetamine. Which is very close to methamphetamine. It is supplied as adderall. I do not recommend it.
4) there is not much to say you have ADHD. I cannot diagnose without being there, but still. Seems unlikely. On the other hand, depression is possible and antidepressants wtih interactions with the stress hormones to increase the stress hormone level in the nervous system is one opton. Cymbalta is a drug that does this, there are others.

Brief Answer:
You are certainly welcome

Detailed Answer:
And I'm glad you're living!

Then, the really bad news is that it's like my running speed, and is a slow progressive effect of aging that we only acknowledge and notice after episodes of change in health or circumstances.
