Question : I am 64, 6'5" tall, do not drink or smoke. My GP sent me to a cardiologist in Oct. 2014 after finding a rapid heartbeat (84 BPM). Cardiologist had an echocardiogram done, it showed a left ventricle ejection fraction rate of 40. He prescribed Metoprolol (50 mg) and Benazepril (5 mg). BPM dropped to 60, blood pressure to 115/65 (( I have always had low blood pressure). A second echo was performed in April 2015. The doctor said he would call me if there were any problems. No call; good! I had retina surgery in Scotland in July, 2015. An electrocardiogram was performed and the doctor said the results were "textbook." I saw the cardiologist this week. He told me my April, 2015 echo was also 40 and he was "surprised it had not improved." I am now scheduled for another echo on May 5, along with blood tests complete panel and a Pro-BNP peptide test. I have no history of smoking, alcohol use, not overweight, no diabetes, no family history of heart trouble, no shortness of breath. My cardiologist says my heart is normal size and I do not have heart failure. I wonder...what is going on? Thanks for your answer. XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

Before goving an accurate answer I would like to check the echo reports by myself. It's normal for a patients with ejection fraction of 40 % to be symptom less.

Can you please send me the detailed echo reports?
