                                            Question : hi doctor,
I have a 5day old baby girl, she sleeps almost entire day (takes feed around 4 times) and passes only 1-2 times urine (transparent) during day time. during night she remains awake and passes stool and urine around 4 times. is it normal for babies to sleep that long during day, today I fed her ( breast feed) when she was sleeping but she didn't wake up. would just like to check if I need to visit a doctor as I've heard long sleeping time could be related to jaundice
thanks XXXXXXX

                                    Brief Answer:
Continue breastfeeding. Visit a doctor.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health care magic.
You need to take the child to a doctor without delay. Although it is normal for the child to sleep 20 hours a day, the child should take feeds every 2-3 hours and should pass urine at least 6 times over 24 hours. Since that does not seem to be the case it might be a good idea to get the child asrssed.
