Question : I tripped while out walking and my husband and, in trying to save me, he fell on top of me. His elbow with his full weight of 13 stone went right into my inner thigh. This happened 6 days ago but I am due to fly to Amsterdam in 4 days time and the bruise is enormous and beginning to move down my leg and change colour. Will it be safe for me to fly. Would really value your reply. Thanks. XXXX

                                    Brief Answer:
Try seeing a doctor before traveling
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting on HCM,
If you are bruising or having a contusion of that capacity due to heavy fall, plus the fact that the bruise is spreading then you need to go to the emergency room to make sure that it is a serious problem that is developing. If you are traveling with a progressive hematoma, what will happen will be unpredictable and it bests if you receive a full check up for progressive onset contusion.
Hope this helps and wish you the best.

                                    Dear Dr Nsah
Thank you for your advice and I will try to get an appointment with my Dr on Monday if possible. I maybe should have mentioned that the flight is only one hour and I could exercise as much as possible on the flight. I have no pain in my leg and the bruise is beginning to change colour. Does this change your reply in any way. XXXX

If bruise changing then

Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for updating,
If the bruise is lightening up (instead bloody red), then I believe it is clearing up on its own. I also think a one hour flight would not cause any harm to you. But you should get a check up when you get back just be on the safe side.
Hope this helps further.
