Is Gallbladder Removal Necessary After Suffering A Stroke?
Question: Hello, I am emailing you to find out an option for a family member that sounds life threatening either way. Female who is 68 has documented high blood pressure, not always compliant until recently, suffering from a serious stroke and now has returned to the hospital with a gall bladder issue. The neurosurgeon does not want her to have any type of surgery for at least 3 months, but surgeon says her gallbladder needs to be removed ASAP. What do we do, in your opinion?

Researchers are reporting that patients who had an ischemic stroke within 3 months before undergoing elective noncardiac surgery were at relatively high risk for cardiovascular events and mortality but that the risks stabilized after 9 months.
Various trials have shown that patients who have sustained a stroke should wait 9 months before having elective surgery but at the end of the day its doctor who decides the pros and cons in a early surgery.
As per NCBI,
The length of time between the stroke and the surgery was an important factor. The incidence rate of 30-day ischemic stroke was 149.6-fold higher in patients with stroke less than 3 months before surgery compared with patients without stroke.
