Question: Hi, my wife has a history of hypothyroidism since 7 years. She has been on 50mg thyroxin since 6 years and discontinued for 2 months and the TSH went up.(1st report). we consulted an endocrinologist and he increased the dosage to 75mg and the TSH came back normal.(2nd report). but when we repeated the test after three months, TSH is in limits and t5 went too high. she has also reported hair loss and hypertension and headaches. Her periods are regular though. can you please suggest if she should change her dosage or go for a detailed diagnosis?

Brief Answer:
you may reduce the dose to 50mcg.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

As I could see, feb report is 16, then march it is 0.7, and again may it is 0.6.
so looking at the reports, madam seems to be comfortable with T4 50 mcg.
as of other symptoms, she needs to add calcium, iron, multivitamin and vitamin D to her plan.
recheck after 3 months and let me know.
regards!
