My 4 yr old daughter complains of a red sore vagina about twice a year. Could this be urine burn?. Paw Paw ointment seems to clear it up in a few days. She is on no medication
Hot baths are soothing and can be continued
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
Hot water baths usually do not cause any problems. It just depends upon a person's skin tolerability . In case your skin can tolerate a much warmer bath without you feeling very uncomfortable or developing any kind of prolonged skin redness irritation or burns, you can surely continue with the same. You just need to be cautious that sometimes remaining in very warm waters for a long time can result in dizziness . In case you do not suffer from any such problems and feel comfortable , you can continue with the same.
As far as your daughter is concerned, she is four years old. The vagina of such a young girl is undergoing various ph changes and certain types of infections or discharges are common at this age. Urine infection is not the reason for this. Urine infections are usually severe and need oral antibiotics in most cases. So you need not worry about your daughters normal genital changes until they lead to painful urination or fever.
A candidal infection however needs to be ruled out in case the child develops itchiness also.
Hope that answers your questions
Please ask if you need any further clarifications
